Ok so can we talk about the spankin plate? Lets talk about the spankin plate
This is another piece in the met museum and its from around 1480 or thereabouts and it evidently depicts a woman fed up with men. She’s clearly been around this LeftistsTM man for too long. She’s obvs been to a leftist organising meeting and he’s spent the whole meeting talking over her and down to her and lamenting that working class women just aren’t engaging yet also mansplaining ~why~ working class women aren’t engaging and probs coming out with gems like SW needs to be abolished cuz its work and that as soon as trans women are mentioned ever he starts spouting about abolishing gender (cuz naturally trans women will have our genders abolished first…)
Anyway this dude gets everyones numbers to organise stuff via Signal or maybe on Slack depending on the exact kind of leftist he is and he eventually sneaks into her DMs to ask her to step on him cuz most leftist men will talk over u then want u to step on them and call u mommy. So she goes yeah why not she’s annoyed enough and would legit like to smack him and if this is a way she can get away with that then damn she’ll take it cuz letting another man talk over her for a bit isn’t the worst price to pay for getting to take ur frustrations about systemic shit out on someone in whats probably the healthiest option available to u at the time
Theres loads of these things from the medieval period depicting how a woman’s charms (lol) can overcome a man’s superior intellect (lol) and i’m here for every single one of this girlboss horsegirl dominatrices (yes i googled the official plural noun)
The scene its depicting is phyllis ridin and spankin aristotle so my interpretation really isn’t that far from the truth. These were made to warn men of allowing women from seducing them and men should hold fast with their superior intellects (lol) but it shows me is that so called superior intellect means nowt when there is a riding crop in my hand
